Hi,
My wife\'s birth certificate says her name as \'Nil\'. which means she was not named at the time of her birth. What kindof affidavit do we need to get
for her from her parents in India. Can someone please share any info on this. I heard that it is an affidavit done at a notary public on a Rs. 10
stamp paper. Can someone please also tell us who this notary can be.
Other than her name as \'Nil\', everything else is fine on her birth certificate. Please help us.

Thanks you

Kiran

That is okay. You need to get one prefrably 2 notrized certificates from your wife\'s parents that the above stated certificate belongs to your wife. Get it signed from Notry commision from your wife local city corts. There is one notry commision who charges little more but he stams that this document is valid outside India as-well. You don\'t have to find them in the court, everyone knows them and if they know that you need sign they will be looking for you as a potential customer. So the person who types on the stam paper will tell who can sign it. Stamp paper of Rs 10 has no value here is USA but I have no idea why we get it that way. Remember if you tell Notry that you have 2 certificates to get it signed he will reduce the price. Since he has to sign valid for International, he tryes to get more money assuming foreigners have more money. He asked Rs 150 from my dad, but my dad gave 50 for both. Good luck

Thanks for your reply. She (my wife) was born in a distant village
in Andhra Pradesh. Her parents live in Hyderabad (india). Is it okay to get the affidavit in Hyderabad or should they need to get it from
the place she was born.

Can someone please post what the affidavit should say (content of the affidavit). The only thing missing in her birth certificate is her name. It was written as \'Nil\'.

Thanks
Please help us.

Affidavit can be from any place, even if they are in USA they can get it notarized in the USA. about the wording it should state Father\'s name, Mother\'s name, place of birth, date of birth, and make sure that it states that the person was physically present during the birth. Rest cort clarks can compose it.
