My wife has been in the US for the last year on a H4 visa. I am on a H1 and have applied for my green card. I am still in the first stage. She was on an F1 (for 2 years - masters degrees) before the H4 and is going to be visiting India in the next 2 weeks. Since she has a scholarship to pursue a pHD here, she needs to get a new F1 from India on this trip. From reading the website, it seems like the drop-box process is most applicable in Chennai. However, the concern we have is that since we are married and live in the US, the US Consulate in Chennai may deny her a student visa since it would be difficult for her to prove that she will be coming back to India. Is this a real risk or are we just worrying too much about it?
