Why was my EAD fee waived

Hi all,

On Nov 3rd 2021, I woke up to this email:

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Your Case Status: Initial Review

On October 6, 2021, we received your case and waived the filing fee for your Form I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION,

my only concern is I received my renewal EAD on October 8th and I’m confused as to what is happening.

Timeline: applied for asylum 2016, interview notice received end August 2021, interviewed September 23rd 2021 Chicago office - no lawyer.

I’m sorry to hear that, I know how stressful waiting can be. Be strong it won’t be long.
Applied May 2016 - Texas Service Center
Moved to Illinois in July 2017 - changed address
Interview notice received August 2021 - Chicago office.
Which office is your case located at?
 
Queen, Am in Texas, its the most frustrating time of my life, almost 5years when i should be looking forward to citizenship...lol, actually applied in may 2016 as well!

Honestly I don’t think I’ve processed it yet ha! It kind of feels surreal. That interview notice came at a very very broke time for me I couldn’t even afford a lawyer to go with me. The interview itself was stressful and I remember at some point I broke down and cried. I walked out of there mad at myself, feeling like I didn’t present myself well enough so this truly was a very pleasant surprise. After I got the notice I realized how much stress I’d been holding only after I’d let it go. I’m sure it’s going to hit me some day soon. And I’ll spend the day smiling like a fool. For now I just feel relief and a certain type of weightlessness.

I’m sincerely rooting for you. Have you checked the current processing times for the Texas service center?
 
Thanks for your words, its probably the most soothing and assuring that i have sen in a while, lots of people are emotionally fatigued, i keep saying its a shame that the usa cannot conduct interviews expeditiously, cmon its 2021!!! Texas center has no online acess, i do not believe they have anything remotely current, its a mess. i received a call from there sometime and since i couldnt cry i just kept laughing hysterically when i was told only 2 interviews were being done per day....

I want to share my experience and timeline

SENT I-589 : JUNE 1 2020

FIRST BIO : AUGUST 20 2020 MISSED IT

SECOND BIO : SEPTEMBER 14 2020

EXPEDITE REQUEST GRANTED : FEBRUARY 2021
expedite request said quote cant schedule your interview now due to covid restrictions because i live in circuit ride location and interview is not being done at this time.

READY TO BE SCHEDULED : NOVEMBER 2 2021

INTERVIEW DAY NOVEMBER 30 2021
Officer was asking for one document i forgot to add he said i should mail it to the asylum office if i do not do it on time he is going to request it so i should try send it.
My question is was that a good thing, If it was going to be refered would he have wanted the document?
It was a police report i forgot to bring when i lost my passport.
STATUS CHANGED TO DECISION PENDING DECEMER 1 2021
Please I am stressed right now let me know your thought guys thank you.
