Why some people are separated and some are not!!

Hi everyone. I have my interview coming up in 2 days and I have been reading this forum for months now. Thanks for all the generous info. Anyway, I was wondering why some people get separated when they go for their interviews while others are not. Is there a certain way that the officers follow to determine they are going to separate people? I am just curious because after reading the interview experiences, I see that some people were interviewed separately from their spouses while others were not. Does any one know why?

There are several factors that could explain that, including:
1. The particular officer
2. Case history
3. Nationality
4. Appearance
5. Procedure at district office
6. "Gut feel" etc. etc.

Note: I would not spend too much time thinking about it. Just prepare your documents well, answer the questions truthfully and there should not be a problem. There really is no way to know before the interview.

Thanks a lot for the response. I'm not too worried because ours is genuine but sometimes you cant help but stress yourself a bit. Why i'm saying this is because not everyone has good memory of things. Since my husband and I married in Jan of this year, we have moved atleast 3 times. Yesterday just out of nowhere, I decided to shoot him the question of which address we moved to after our wedding. He couldnt remember the address!! He's really bad with apartment names and addresses and that worries me if they decide to separate us. On the other hand, I have a very good memory so its worrying when I think that we may be separated and I will be able to answer all the questions right but my husband might not.

Don't get stressed out. These AO's can detect a genuine marriage in 99.9% of the cases by observation alone. After all it is their profession.

The initial questions are always from the G-325...so practise and memorize the trivial stuff- like names of In-laws, Birthdays etc. Also you should go throught the questions of the stokes interview...its fun to see how different genders answer differently and you get to know your partners perspective. Have a consensus on the answers. Being prepared is better than NO preparation.

Generally pretty good advice. I know that there has been some argument on here as to whether it is necessary to "prepare". While I do think that legitimate couples usually have no problem at all, it does contribute to the peace of mind to "prepare" --- memorize the basics and relax. When you truly don't remember --- say so. Most officers have a very good sense of what is natural and what is not.

Also, if you prepare, and you do get the IO from hell, you are better equipped to handle it.
