Why KId ( below 11 years) has to go for ASC code 2 ?

Recived asc notice with code 2 for kid ( 7 year old) and for spouse.

Q 1
Spouse did ASC (with code1) 8 months back.. why she has to get another with different code(2) ?

q2 - I read that kids below 11 years do not need to do ASC.
if it is correct then why my kid got ASC code 2 appointment.

This hapened to my kid as well (9y old). We received Code 3 Biometrics for her. Attorney said just go to ASC and report. When we went to ASC the officer corrected it to Code 2 and just took photo and signature (and I think index finger print, I do not remember) and sent us back. There is a LUD on that date on I-485 but none after that.
