I sent my N-400 last month, January 2009, and received a receipt from USCIS a week later. That receipt shows me that USCIS has received my N-400 and cashed my check.

Recently ( February 2009 ), I received two I-797Cs ( Notice of Action ), fingerprint notification separately from USCIS before the date of my fingerprint appointment. Meanwhile, I didn’t request a new one or reschedule for next fingerprint appointment. Besides, I have discovered that the second one, the “ Notice Date ” is different from the first one, namely, just with a latest issuing date. Apart from this, all the content, such as priority date, received date, date and time of appointment, and location for fingerprinting are same as the first one. By the way, I live in New York City, Brooklyn.

Question 1: Have you guy received the second one fingerprint notification ( I-797C ) from USCIS? Someone told me that USCIS won’t send you the second notice, including receipt, fingerprint notification, or interview notice etc. Now, I am concerned about my case will have some problems.

Question 2 : Continued with Question 1, if you guy received the second one, which one should I bring ( The first one or the second one )? This is because they have a different “ Notice Date ”. If I bring the wrong one I am scared that I will create unnecessary trouble in later day.

Please help me !!!

Sound to me like the USCIS FP process is a batch related and triggered by a specific field in your case in their system. If they happen to change or update that field it spews out another FP letter, regardless of if you have already received a previous one.

Don't worry about it..go to the first scheduled FP. The thing what counts is that you go ahead and do the FP.

Also, if you already had FP done and they turned out bad (rejected by FBI) , they would send you a second notice for a new appointment.
