Why H4 extension for only 1.5 months????

I filed for H4 extension for my wife. She got extension for only 1.5 months.
what could be the possible causes.
1) Mistake by USCIS?
2) Mistake by my Lawyer?

If its a mistake in Date bu USCIS then I assume that its is a safe position for us but What if the mistake has been made by our lawyer and he applied with wrong date?

Just to mention, myself and my wife are still very far from the 6 yr h1-h4 limit.

I will be very thnakful for any advise.

--can be, check the copy of I-539 form that lawyer filed, if he tiked wrong box then you have to apply again H4 extension before her I-94 expires with filing fees, if it is USCIS mistake then lawyer can write to USCIS point out the USCIS mistake and can get corrected H4 extension approval notice. you have to make sure checking the copy of I-539(that is with lawyer) if the date for extension was correct on the form.

How long was your H1 valid? Yes she's far from the 6 yr. limit, but the H4 would be only valid till H1, so when's your H1 expiring?

Update reagrding my previous post --
My H1 and the H4 for my wife were filed simultanously.
Both were approved on the same day. My H1 with 3 years. My wife's H4 for only 1.5 months. Last Dates are the same on both, but in case of H4 it has been misprinted as 2004 instead of 2006.

I checked with the lawyer. There was no mistake on our part. So my lawyer has faxed to USCIS to fix the mistake on the Notice of Action for H4.

Also, i am being informed by many that these kind of typo errors are quite common now a days.
But it certainly gives nightmares to those who get such approvals!!!!!!!!!!
