Why go for early FP ?

I see lot of people in this forum posting about going for FP earlier than the apppointment date.

What is the advantage ? Does it mean your case will be processed that much faster ?

AFAIK there is no advantage.

FP postpone

I have to postpone my FP appointment as I won't be in town on date of appointment. If I opt for reschedule when will I get my next appointment. Since I am going to postpone, is there a risk of my GC application getting rejected.
