Why GC holders cannot get their spouse?

At the time of my GC, I was not married. Simply becuase I did not find the right person. Now, if I want to marry, I cannot get her to US for 5 years.

When the INS can allow an H1B employee to do get wife on H4, then why can\'t a GC holder do that? I understand the quota issue, but it should be changed?

Can we do something about it?

I am specifically looking for an expert advice on this.

Thanks.

This is a BIG problem. IMO this is the wrong forum. Try some other forums on this site.

As a general advice you can try contacting your congress representative. You cannot vote yet, but still they may pay attention to you.

K and V not applicable to me

K is for fiance\' of US citizen.
V is for for GC holders who have applied for their spouse before some date in 2001, or so. Not applicable to me.
In case you might know, what can the congressman suggest me to do?

Thanks.

V Visa

Just to clarify:

V visa is NOT just for those who applied \'before some date in 2001\'.

V visa is actually for all of those who have applied and haved been waiting for more then 3 years.

So what V visa does, is that it actually cuts the waiting for entry and EAD from the full time it takes to get GC (usually more then 5 years) to 3 years.
