I am curious to know, why does employer's are afraid to give 140. I understand its employer petition, but they file against employee and employee have right to know the status as well as have a copy of approval.

Whats confidential info will be there is 140, which employer is afraid to give.
Other than federal tax #, I do not see any confidentail info.

Even if we know, fed tax # what can anyone do with it.

Lets all of discuss on this issue, please add info if you guys know it.

you should have good relation with your employer. Even if not good just OK will work too.

I dont talk to my employer at all but when i requested my approval copy they gave me without any problem.

Other option is to contact your attorney and have them give you copy.

Agree with Sam_reddy

Well, I have no bad relations with my employer however they are not ready to divulge even with the case number for my I-140. I don't need a copy or anything like that but just wanted to add in the UCSIS portfolio and track it for the status .

Couple of posts I read in this fourm about using FIOA is not that encouraging...

My friend, you must have patience. So what if you cannot track it. Knowing the receipt will not accelerate the adjudication. I was exactly in your shoes , so I can understand what you are going through. But have faith and patience. My I-140 got approved in 48 days and I did not have the receipt number. I tried a lot but could not get it not even from the USCIS customer service..

Well, there can be situations, where employer says he filed, but after an year they may file it. They may lie saying they filed, they want to keep employee working for long periods. Also there is chance he may sell off pre-approved labor, Because they know once you get EAD, after 180 days you will leave.

All we employees need is to check the status, and relax knowing its filed.

But what is in that form, which employer is afraid of to give. What harm can a employee do to employer by knowing that info.

I-140

Sam_Reddy, though I'm in the same boat as you I agree that we have the right to get the I-140 case number/copy. However to your latest posting it is NOT possible to file I-485 without filing I-140.

If the EADs and APs are cleared then they would definately would have reviewed the case for I-140, I-485 for complete documents.

Hopes this helps!

i don't know what posts you have read but filing FIOA will help you out. i for one did file FOIA even though i had copy of the I140 receipt before filing FOIA.
