Why do companies revoke I-140

Is there a legal reason why a company would revoke an I-140 after the sponsored person leaves the employment of the company? Is the company required to revoke the I-140?
Is it very common that this happens?
I am concerned about this, since I have read here that AC21 has been denied due to the I-140 being revoked.

The I-140 belongs to the sponsoring company, so they are free to revoke it. They can do this legally. An I-140 revocation means that the company no longer intends to sponsor you or have you in their payroll. AC21 has a lot of grey areas, so be careful and talk to a lawyer before you decide to jump to another employer.

It is their application and they have right to revoke. Unlike H1B, they are not required to revoke it when you are no longer with them. They will revoke it if they hate you. Very simple. =)

There are other reasons too

Once the I-140 is revoked, They can use your approved labour as substitution labour for somebody else who needs GC.
