Why courier/express as opposed to priority mail?

I notice that everyone else is sending their apps via courier/express mail. Is there a reason for this? Is it safer to go this route?

There's no advantage to courier as registered mail offer possibility to track application as well. Some just prefer USPS/Fedex over UPS when it comes to shipping important documents.
