Why 485 approvals after 10th April 2001 are getting delayed

Here is my guess:

It takes 6 months for 485 to get approved after ND ( as a thumb rule)

When they were about to process application beyond April 10th 2001, September 11th tragedy occured throwing INS process into a tail spin.
There is much hue and cry about wrong people being admitted via INS and a security screening.

I see a very strong probability of 485 AOS getting caught in this whirlwind and getting slowed down after April 2001.

There is no corroboration to this theory, but the dates match this theory and also the news that 20 countries are under watch list.
May be they never had screening process for countries and now that they are saggregating by countries and National Security is at risk, no INS officer want to work on the papers till they get permission. This is like Florida Counting man. I hope they get back in their rhythm soon.

Oh No! If your 6 months from ND thumb rule is correct...

July mailers can only expect their approvals in Feb/March. That would mean a wait of more than 4 months from FP done date for me. That would blow out of the water the pattern of approval in 4 to 10 weeks from FP done date that I have noticed recently. I hope something comes along that will keep me occupied away from the GC issue. Otherwise a wait of another 3 months would be sheer agony.

I think its oft-repeated Batch processing thory which is at work

For some guys in late 2000 and early 2001, aprovvals were coming in 3-4 months also because INS was after I-485 processing.

Similarly, when my I-140 was processed (Sep. 2000) - it took 2 months. But I have heard it taking much longer for some guys later on.

So its actually - someone in INS deciding the emphasis - and you are lucky if you are there at tha time.

Anyway, I\'m most scared of INS forgetting some of the Apps totally for months (and I\'m sure for year or more for few) - so hope that doesn\'t happen to any of us!! Yes, I badly want it now...

that they go by ND.

Actually Jony, I think they process by Month of RD...

Adjudication-ready cases get put onto shelves depending on their month of RD. For eg : People who have an RD in April go to a shelf that is distinct from those with an RD in May and so on and so forth. When Adjudication Officers request more work they are allocated cases, hopefully from the shelf containing oldest month of RD\'s. By that token, even if June/July RD cases are waiting for adjudication, they may continue to wait when older April/May RD cases clear their FP\'s(like the San Jose folks) even if the older cases have a more recent FP done date. That is why I think I am looking at a long wait inspite of completing my FP over a month ago.

Even the 6 months rule from ND(not RD) may fail if I do not get my approval by Xmas. Lets wait and see

AD = RD+ 8 months OR AD = ND + 6 months AD and FP Done are not connected anymore

I am 110% sure it is 911 events causing this unexpected delays in AOS approvals.

how many more left with April RD?

ANyone know how many more cases are left with
April RD? In PCee\'s list there are 75 cases listed
with MAY RD and 55 with June RD.

Based on what I read on this board, INS is approving
485s based on RD.

As for me, i happen to be in the san jose area, so i dont
even have FP notice. I cannot comprehend why INS is
not sending FP notice to San Jose people?
 My RD is june 11.

INS = BATCH MODE

All the San Jose people will get their FP in one month.
Which month, only god knows.

How many April cases are still pending, the last I counted was 20 out of 75 were pending.
This bearing in mind all people do not report their approvals immediately.
Some never.
I guess they are worried about Bin Laden doing some harm to them.

Any way, we are just trying to console ourselves.
date analysis is futile, last year I waited for my 140 approval for 1 year for 1 day. they clreared upto 15th April and I was on 16th April.

So .....Belief and Patience
