I think,

VSC will take another 2 to 3 weeks to process (Approve / issue 1st RFE) for all those cases pending with RD before July 30th.

There will be lots of applications (about 75000 applications compare to average of 35000 - 40000 applications per month) with ND/RD in August. VSC may take OCtober + November 2000 months to prcess 08/99 I-485 cases.

I am also expecting them to process about 40000 cases each month then onwards.. i.e. if someone\'s RD/ND is Juanuary 2000, (s)he should get his case approved by April 2001.. OR if RD/ND is in March 2000, (s)he should expect approval by June 2001..

The process may get slowed down during 15th September to January 15, 2001 due to H-1 Processing, Election and Holidays..

Do you subscibe to my model.. Please express your views publicly..

Well,

(1) VSC handles about 18,000 cases annually. Processing 40,000
cases each month is the figure for the entire INS, and 6/7 of
them are done by the local INS (family-related 485s). And VSC
processes about 60 cases each day (if you divide 18,000 by

Maybe you analysis is reasonable. But it is so unfair to see other service center(CSC,TSC) adjusting late 99 and even 2000 cases while VSC is lagging far behind. Frustrated in deed.

(1) Could you please justify the figure of 18000 ?
(2) Main thing : Proportion of Family based 485s - I don\'t understand this. Do you mean to say that people applying for immigration from non-US countries in Family based countries (F1, F2A, F2B, F3 and F4) are considered I-485 applications ? To my information the applicant has to be in US for I-485 application.. Please clarify.

You might be right about 70000 cases received by whole INS and not just VSC.

First, it is well known that INS wastes half of the 14,4000 EB visas
every year. From this info, you know the 7,2000 is what INS handles
each year for EB. Second, INS sources said 18,000 was VSC\'s goal
this year, where TSC has processed close to 30,000 cases this year.

Yes, A LOT of people applies for family-based I-485s at local INS
within US; they can be in US already through many other visaes,
and they send I-485s for adjustment. And this is the local INS\'
485 business.
