Hello,
at the moment I am waiting for my GC - I have done everything from interview and byometrics on. I should receive response in 60 days since I last sumbitted my documents (if I understand it correctly) - that was approximately 30 days ago.

My problem is, that my school starts in September and more than anything in the world I'd like to see my family and my friends before I go back to school. Meaning I need to find a way for me to visit my country Slovenia and come back to US before september.

I have done a little research and there is a form I-131, and my question is, will this form get me reentry permit in a matter of days, or should just keep my fingers crossed and wait for the freen card.

I already know I am not eligible to receive emergency travel permit.

Any suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated, Urska

The I-131 (Advace Parole) takes aroun 60-90 days from the day you send it until you have it in your hands.

It took only 28 days for mine :D but, I can not assure it will be the same for you.

Your best bet, wait for the GC (I guess you are stuck in name check or were you approved?) and you can make an Infopass appointment and speak with an Immigration Officer to see about your case.

I am not sure if I am stuck in name check or I have already been approved. How can I tell?
Thansk so much for valuable information, Urska

Well, what did the immigration officer tell you at the interview? that you were approved or that you were pending a security check (aka namecheck)?

The interviewer told us we were basically approved, but she suddenly had a problem because my husbands tax deductions took down our final reported income. ICS sent us a letter requesting another sponsor or a printout from the irs indicating my husband refiled his taxes with less deductions to raise the reported income (at additional expense). My husband re-filed and sent ICS the printout they requested indicating the taxes had been refiled with the numbers they requested. Nothing since....

During the interview we were given no indications of any trouble whatsoever and the tax problem seemed to come out of nowhere, like she was having a bad day.

I have scheduled an appointment thru InfoPass as per your advice. What should I expect from it? Telling me that I was approved, or just that my application is still pending?

Thank you so much, for your time, we appreciate it, Urska&Barry:confused:

Thanks!

Ursa major and ursa minor are stellar constellations. Ursa means bear.

By the way, I kind of owe you my status update - my I-485 have been approved yesterday, and my card has been sent out to printing! Everything turned out well in the end.

Thank you PraetorianXI,:) for psychological "buffing":D

that is strange. Usually it's the gross income (not the adjusted gross income) that is taken into a consideration when one determines whether that income exceeds poverty level.

The Sponsor's Current Individual Annual Income is what is compared to the poverty guidelines.

The income shown on your tax return may or may not be your current income and is used as an additional source of information to establish consistency of income.

Example.

Mr X is sponsoring Mrs Y.

Date of Application: 8/1/07

Current Income is at what rate Mr X is being paid now, supported by payslips. This may be different from what Mr X was paid as reflected on his W2 for 2006, termed gross income which may also be different from Mr X's Adjusted Gross Income, if he is claiming losses.
