Which one: Fingerprint-based or Name-based police certificate (CANADA)?

Hi,
I am preparing the required documents for a CP interview. I am getting conflicting information about the necessity of obtaining a fingerprint based police certificate. Every time I call IFSC (international Fingerprinting Services) they tell me that a fingerprint based police certificate is only needed if I have a criminal. If I don't, a name check based police certificate should be enough.

Could someone, please, share your experience about a police certificate from Canada for CP purpose?

other countries issue a name-based police report which seems to be enough.
