Which I-94 to submit while leaving from US to India.

Hi,

My first H1 was valid till May 95 to May 98 (This is
my first 3 year H1).

Last time, I went to India was during Sept 96. While coming
into US in Spet 96, I was given a I-94 card, which expired in May 98.

In May98, I got my H1 extended for another 3 years. I sent my passport
to Washington for H1 visa stamping and got it during end of 98. When
I got my second term H1 (my current H1), along with approval notice
comes a I-94 card (which I detached from H1 approval notice and stapled
to the passport while sending to Washington for visa stamping, which
was returned to me with the visa+passport).
I already have a I-94 (white color) which was expired in May 98.

Now I have about 9 months left in my H1. I and my wife are planning
for a trip to India. When I go to India, we need to submit I-94 cards
at the airport. My question is which one should I submit (white expired
in May 98 OR I-94 that was part of H1 approval notice expires in
May 2001).

Or should I give both.

If I give the H1 approval notice I-94, then will they ask for it while
I come back in.

I am sure many of us has done this.

Could some please help me with this question.

Thanks in Advance
Kiran

Both you and your wife would have to surrender both your old I-94\'s and while coming back you would be issued a new
I-94 at port of entry. The bottom left portion of your approval notice has a copy of the I-94 for your records so you don\'t
have to worry.

Normally they INS personnel wouldn\'t ask for the I-94 on the approval notice.

If you read the approval notice clearly it says detach and give at the port of exit.

So be cool have a nice vacation
