Friends, need your help

I am an I-485 applicant since 01-28-03 (approximately 250 days).

I currently live in NJ, working on a short term project. Getting a better offer in FL and can continue to work through my consulting company. Thinking about taking it. Now here are my questions, my employer is suggesting me to not inform BCIS or lawyer about address change. I personally also don’t want to complicate things by informing BCIS about the address change. I have seen some people on this forum getting approved without any problem. What kind of risk am I taking by not informing BCIS about the address change?

You are required to file AR-11 within 10 days of moving to a new address. The burden of proof that you've done this is on you, not your employer or attorney. You never know what will happen down the road.

I read somewhere in this forum that, not filing AR-11 with BCIS within 10 days of moving is a misdemeanour, but one which is not enforced strictly as long as the alien informs BCIS.

So, to my knowledge you have to file AR-11 with BCIS when you move.

Now, if you file AR-11 and not inform VSC about address change - I don't know honestly if VSC will be able to track that. I don't know the consequences, if VSC finds out that you didn't inform.

Alternatively, there aren't much issues if you inform BCIS and VSC about address change. Many people have changed addresses, without hassles. You just have to confirm (and may be double confirm) your address change by calling the NSC number (1-800-375-5283).

I personally recommend a clean route in immigration related matters.
 
One more thing is that if you do address change there are less chances of loosing communication from INS even though you might have to call the National Center to confirm your address change.

Other thing I read in some other forum is that if you are marrired, be sure that you send your and your wife's forms together because I read one guy was called for the interview as he and his wife had different address on the file and INS wanted to make sure that they still live together. That happened because INS changed his address and didn't change the address for his wife.
 
File AR11...That's mandatory..

Filing AR11 wudn't automatically update ur address in BCIS system...So if u the new tenant is co-operative[known person], just file AR11 and all communication, most probably, wud go to ur NJ address...and you are fine...!! Problem is only if the new tenant to ur NJ aptment is totally 'new', in which case I would suggest you to inform BCIS of ur current address to get all notifications...

Address Change

What kind of problems do you think you would anticipate by changing address? All you have to do is call 1-800 number and they will send you address change confirmation at home.
THere is no proof of anybody geting his G.C cancelled or delayed because he changed his address.

I was thinking of using AR11 and changing address to my friend's address who has his own house in NJ. That way he gets all my papers and communicates with me.

According to my lawyer, my case might get transfered to TSC because of my address change to FL.

Better get a second opinion on your lawyer's thoughts..

There are a lot of people who are in CA, but have applied (and some got approved) for GC in VSC. I am one of such people.

In my personal opinion, as long as you don't change your employer, moving to any part of the US shouldn't affect your GC processing. Moreover, transferring your case from one SC to another, is a big task on BCIS's part.
