Hello everyone, I'm feeling lucky enough to find this place to put up my questions and hope my case looks instructive for many of others.
I submitted my asylum application originally to san Francisco office and then after 9 months I moved to Chicago area because the community I lived in san Francisco didn't sound very safe. The thing was I only updated the change of address online (uscis official website) but recently I was told that the simple online update is not enough and people was required to do a "AR 11 FORM" which still needs to be sent to the local and previous asylum offices and only if the receipt of confirmation of address change mail has been received, the case is considered to be transferred totally to the new place.

so my question is anybody has any idea that where my case is now? Can I assume that my case is still at San Francisco office??? Well if that's true, I m going to move back soon!

Thank you everybody here, wish all the best for you the next year!!!

Dude, you might be or already in hot mess.
You need to do both AR-11 and notify local asylum office.
Just doing online update won't do the trick.

Thank you soso much sadsoul~ my concern is if i'm moving back to san Francisco to have my interview, should I need AR 11 ? I asked so because it looks that my case has been left in SF still? Is my case treated like nothing like my moving ever happened? I might be moving back to seattle, (still under the management of SF office) so if my record shows the current address is SF, then the address change from SF to Seattle requires any AR 11? or I just need a simple update on the uscis website?? so it's a good timing to move back since I don't need to wait in the line from beginning but keep the place in the pool because I failed to transfer my case from SF to Chicago?
Thanks guys! your supportive help really awesome!!

I just realized that the forms I've filled online is exactly AR 11, so maybe the point is not AR 11 but I never notify the office? Oh my god who can tell where's my case now...after moving to the new place, I also renewed my work permit,( I did the first one in SF ), can this show some evidence that my case has been transferred already? or the work permit application just another system it has nothing to do with where my case now is??

I will let you know tomorrow ok. I am out today but I got your message and will let you know what to do.

it sounds like your case is still in san fran. it's generally not a good idea to move around (and to move your application to another asylum office) while the case is pending, because it would only introduce more room for errors and delays. In your current situation, you need to weigh the costs vs. benefits of moving. Should you decide to stay in chicago, you should notify the san fran local aslylum office immediately and have them move your application. Should you decide to move back, just fill out another form on uscis.gov to indicate that you moved again. There would be no need to contact the asylum office.

How long did your interview was conducted after filling ? Which office was it ?

The SF office looks speed up its interview process and they 've handled three months files in December. Since my file was left there but i'm living in other state is that possible if I write a letter to SF office for asking to hold my case til the summer??? because if I move back I need to pay the double rent of housing which I cannot...

If you haven't heard back about the your request acknowledgement then then it's still in SF. You will be notified when anything is updated by the office. To be on safer side call the uscis customer service desk. they will be able to tell you if your new address is updated or not.
