when you do your I-693

ok thanks, the form says over 15 yrs has to have xray so i was confused because i was told its a tb skin test so thanks :)

Sink test, go back in 2-3 days and if they see a bump, you go for the x-ray. Otherwise, that should be it. PS, be sure the Dr. gives you a copy of what's in the sealed envelope for your records.

Thank you I will make sure I ask for one, I am calling monday to make a appt. got My rfe today for the joint sponsor and medical exam ...God I hate doctors and needles but from what I have been told the exam is pretty quick (some say in and out in less then 10 mins) get your blood work done and whatever shots they think you need and your done ...I am hoping anyways, I found my childhood shotrecord and my ruebella shot from when I had my daughter.. I also got a TB skin test then as well but I am sure the doc will have to do another one...A lady that had hers done said all her doc did was take blood pressure listen to heart and lungs sent her for blood work and gave her a tetnus shot (she said she didnt have to disrobe ) she was in and out in under 10 mins

You could choose between the two. I went straight for the X-ray since I didn't want to wait 2-3 days and have another 30-min subway ride to the doctor. X-ray cleared me right away and took 1 minute.

You do not always have a choice. It depends on the doctor. The doctor I went to told me the X-ray was only if I got a positive skin test.

that's true, for me it wasn't an option. I had the skin test done and got a reaction, i think it's 2cm or more (not sure). So after 3 days when I went back to the doctor I had to get an X-ray. The doctor said that it's very usual for people in my culture to get a reaction because as kids we get a shot against it, so it is just our body fighting it since it's already prepared to do so. It made sense. Call many places ASAP since you never know how packed they are. I remember the one closest to me had a 1-month wait.
goodluck!

Well.....
The doctor then wrote on the I-693 that I was found negative on my skin-test, even though I just took X-ray.

He also wrote that I took a couple of shots and that I was current with all the others (of course I took no shots whatsoever).

It really depends on the doctor, but I remember reading on some USCIS form (I guess the I-693 instructions) that you could really choose between skin test and X-ray.
X-ray is more accurate and enough to tell if you have tubercolosis, but some people don't wanna do it because of its radiations....

I would have thought the X-ray would be more expensive too.

He did the same for me.
And it's true. Some shots (like the chickenpox) are just useless if you're over 15....
Plus, I believe the USCIS doesn't have any authority on the I-693 as long as the doctor cleared you (I'd worry if they do have authority).
