when to move on H-1 from OPT

hi all,

i am starting my job next month with EAD card(on OPT). My employer will sponser my H-1. i have some queries about the same.

- Shall i ask then to file H-1 as soon as possible for i shall take benifit of OPT time, in term of Tax?
- Usually how long it takes to get H-1 approved, from Vermont office?
- what could be the ideal time to apply for H-1? immidiately or 2/4/6 months later?

i hope i will get some guidence from ppl here.

Depends

Depends upon when is your OPT ending. Next years quota will start from Oct 1, 2006. INS starts taking applications from April 1. You have to make sure that you H1 petition gets approved before you run out of OPT

use your OPT maximum.
Apply H1 by Apr 2006, but request start date of H1 as of your OPT end date.
