When to apply for status change from J1-H1b

Hello,

Once H1b is approved to start the job on July 1, when do you apply for status change from J1 to H1b? You are in your current residency program till June 30th?

How does this work? Do you apply AOS as soon as H1B is approved with effective date of July 1??

Or you start work work on H1B on July 1 and apply for AOS afterwards. How long this takes? Is CP is an option, if so, how does it work?

Hi if you are in usa it is automatic you do not do anything else however your dependents will need change status application for h4 which will take 2 to 3 months but if you go to your country you can pick up your visa and your wife visa same day that is what I am doing.
 
When to leave and return after H1

I guess, next q's are:

If you're finishing your residency on June 30th and starting your job on July 1st. How could this happen.... take leave last week of residency.... then q's are:

1) If you were to start on July 1, when can you enter into USA?
2) As soon, J1 is changed to H1, you're not legally in your current residency program where you have few days left, correct? What should you do? Advise your current residency program the date you get H1? By doing this, the residency program might start reporting to future license authorities end date of June 25th or so. Even though rest of the june is your earned leave time. I hate to explain for the rest of my life about 5 days missing.... even though it should be no big deal.

Any thoughts??????
 
Hi I do not think it is so complicated you get h1 you are legal then you take your vacation from program and do what you like the program has nothing to do with all this I had many freinds got h1 while in residency never heard of such problem.
