When to apply for N400

Thank you guys. I mean along with N400 Application, check for $675, 2 passport pictures and phot copies of green card. Do I need to send anything else ie tax transcripts or other documenation. Mine is based on 5 years based.

A separate application for each individual is required, Right? And this $675 is again for each application/individual, Right?

Once in a while they run specials, all-you-can-file for $675 :D

One application per individual is required; for the logistics part, separate checks/money orders, separate envelopes, separately mailed would be my choice.

Send away for your tax copies NOW as it takes a few days for them to show up.

How do we get these tax papers? Should I submit a request in IRS website?

How many years of tax papers we need to ask from IRS?

My wife and I will be eligible to apply N-400 in 2 weeks.

Do we need to apply separately or together?

I just started reading 'Guide to US Citizenship'.

Nice one.... I know my question was silly, just wanted to make sure if this N-400 is per individual or per family...

Thanks for the help.

In general, 5 years worth of transcripts / IRS work is needed. The IRS service center sends them out in 2-3 weeks. It would not hurt to ask for state tax transcripts or similar as well (free for the asking, any way...), and both sets of transcripts are 'good to have around' in general.

For 5-years based applications, such things are optional, but if one wants to be prepared, it's good to have. There's some 'sticky' posts as to what exactly is required and what is optional, start there. Also check your DO's processing 'speed' and adjust accordingly, it would be uncool to get interviewed before your 5 years (90 days, etc).

I went to local IRS office and filled a request form and it took 10 Min to get 4 year transcripts and she gave me a summary statment for the first year. I'm planning to file N400 before 60 days to avoid early inteview.
