When to apply for citizenship

Hi All!

I got my GC in November 2003. After getting my GC, i have travelled to india a couple of times and each time i stayed there for one month.
1) how long i have to wait for filing for citizenship?
2) how long i have to be physically in USA to apply for citizenship?
3) do i have stay here with out any break (like going out of the country for job or personal reasons?)

your help will be really appreciated.

USCIS has rules for different cases. go to their webiste and they have a whole handbook (called a guide to natualization) and all your questions should be answered there. here is the website:

As long as you did not stay outside of the country for more than 6 months, and did not spend more of your days overseas than in the USa in the last 5 years, you can apply 3 months before the 5 yr anniversary from your G/C issued date.

Its 3 years if you got GC from marriage to a USC
5 years for other cases.
