When should I start calling Congressman/ Senator

I had applied for family based GC through my spouse. I applied on Feb 9,2005. FP done-results back. Interview done on May 17,2005. However GC was not approved because security check was not complete. Sent an email to FBI on April 5,2005 as I wanted to be proactive- No response yet. Did FOIPA and got no records. Should I start bugging the congressaman and senators office or is too early. When my wife had called the senators office they told her it was just one month after interview but took down the details. I am not sure if that is a good reason to delay as I do not want to be in a position in which some of the colleagues on this website are in. What are the chances that they will help given the fact that my interview was only done 6 weeks ago. My lawyer is expensive charges by the hour and I do not want to involve him.
Should I make an infopass appointment and give the no records found to the immigration guys and ask them to expedite the name check. Any ideas?

There are people whose name check has not been cleared for over a year so you are just a newbie to congressman's office.

FBI takes 5 - 6 months to reply to name check inquiry emails...so you are still within the stated limits for an email inquiry.

You can make an appointment and give the results to them but its not guaranteed that they will file FOIPA with your file. Additionally, they have no say on your FBI name check. When it comes to homeland security, even the senator cannot do anything. The game paln is...sit and wait. The senator can only help you if FBI name check is done and USCIS shows that they are still waiting for the name check. This, you will only know once you get a reply from FBI to your email inquiry.
