When Should I apply EAD

Gurus,

My EAD Expiring in Aug 2004. I looked in the forums that suggested to apply 90 days before. If the service center takes more than 90 days, then my current EAD Expires.

So, one can work with Expired EAD pending EAD Approval. If not what is the solution. Can I apply in January.

CSC current processing is January 20th 2004. (am I right).

Please advise, thank in advance
 
I would suggest you to apply for renewal before 90 days, so that if you don't get your approval, at least you have the option to get interim EAD from a local office. This is really helpful, if you are currently working with your EAD. In general, all district local offices usually issues on the 91st day of your EAD case pending.

why wait for 90 days to apply for EAd or renew EAD? you can send EAD renewal 6 months advance
 
I feel you should look at the current processing time in your Service Center and apply accordingly. If there is a 4 month backlog better to apply atleast 4 months in advance.However there have been instances wherein the new EAD approved was valid from the date it was approved instead of the expiry date of the current EAD. If that happens, then you stand to lose a couple of months if you apply way too early,mine was one such case.
