When for citizenship???

I recieved my greencard a week ago. Now I heart that a lot of people are getting letter from INS to return the greencard since the dates were wrong. They shold be the date when you were granted asylum. My greencard was backdated 1 year with date Dec 10Th 2004. II think I will apply for citizenship in one month since it takes one year to respond on that application I will have 5 years. |Do you think it is a smart move??

People are being asked to return their GCs because they did not get the 1 year backdating entitled to them under the INA. Currently the allows the CIS to backdate the Resident Since date to one year prior to the GC approval date.

So you are eligible for Citizenship 4 years and 9 months after the Resident Since date printed on your GC.
