when does the online status get updated

OK....frustration is running high and I am tired of guessing when/how the online status gets updated. Does it happen once a day at a particular time or can it happen throughout the day? If anyone has any info, please share. I check the status every three hours from 8am - 5pm and find myself waiting for the three hours to finish so I can check it again. Insane !!!!!!! AM I alone or do I have company here ?

Also, any info on when U think status gets updated online/phone.

I know the feeling ..

Eventhough I am months away from getting an approval (Not really , its way overdue , but looking at the cases here , it surely seems that way), I check this website and rupnet pretty often. I am sure there are many more like us. All I can say is be patient , and hope for the best. Your day will come too !!
 
I don't think there's some particular time they update it. In any case, there was a thread about 3-5 weeks ago where someone mentioned a utility which can keep track of your online message and notify when it changes.

Not knowing more about you, I can't really answer that question :) :).

What I can say is that if you keep checking the INS online status check every three hours for, oh for anything from 3 months to the next 2 years, the chances of ending up insane are pretty high. :)

Here's a prescription for retaining your sanity. If you think you are close to approval, check once every day at a set time. That way, regardless of when they update their systems, you are likely to find out within a statistical mean period of 12 hours. If you are not particularly close, which officially means a receipt date of after 9/30/01, forget about this issue and concentrate on other more important things in life.

Believe me it works, 'cause that's what I did!!! I think I am still sane (though some would question that).
 
Status Updates

I think the status updates are done only once or twice a week probably in the middle of the night. That's what I could conclude based on my experience.
 
Don't check your status everyday. Instead concentrate on other things. Checking your status and seeing the old message is frustrating.
 
My friend just got his approval in the mail last week. He went to the chicago office and got stamps and his passport and his wifes passport. His RD was march 2002. His online status is still not updated!! I wouldn't look at it more than once a day - if that! ;)

I have the same feeling. I would think it's once a week. Based
on my experience and my friends' experience, Friday is the day.
(including "received", "rfe issue", "rfe received", "approved" information update).
But I remember someone here mentioned another weekday.
 
thanks guys! Yes - I am going to stop doing that. I always decide that I will just check it every evening. But in the middle of the day I get the thought that I do not want to stay in this uncertainty even one moment more than necessary. So in case my case is approved when I check it, it will save me a few more hours of uncertainty.

Once a day is the rule from now .....
