when does the 180 countdown start?

485 filed, what if lay-off before 180 days

Hi All,
Thanks everyone for great contributions and RK rocks for his contribution to the Immigration society.

Everyone I need help in my case as I am not clear
I am trying to read different forums but am not sure

Me and my husband have 140 approved, EB2 category.
485 filed (24th July reciept date) with me as primary and him sceondary, recieved reciepts. We chose to file with me only because my job was supposedly stable. But unexpectedly the company is going through very rough situation and all can be lay'd off. EAD and AP still not filed.
Lawyer not co-operating asking for double the fees.
What happens to my 485 application. Please help me in resolving the situation.

Thankyou very much,
Gurpreet

As long as Company does not revoke the I-140s for 180 days you should not have any problems. Do EAD/AP on you own. There is lot of resource on this forum and elsewhere on the net.

Try keep your status on H1 itself.

Thankyou Tammy2

Thankyou for your reply.
I hope company does not revoke it.

Will I have to notify USCIS of the job change after 180 days tough..

I filled the EAD form and was pretty easy to fill, but just very afraid of mistakes.

Lawyer charging fee to even verify the form

Yes you have to notify the USCIS after the job change. By the way - your current employer dont have to spent a penny to uphold your I-140 approval.

EAD forms should not be very difficult to fill.
There is pretty good information on the forums.
Just follow it precisely and supporting documentation.
I have attached a pdf file to this thread see this might help
