When do you get priority date?

Hello - I will be applying for EB3 at Vermont Service Center - they are currently processing I-140's received 12 months ago. When do you get a priority date? is it on receipt of your application or on approval?? With a 4 year wait for visa availability (rest of world E3) and a year for processing that's a long time! I am hoping my priority date is from receipt of my I-140 - does anyone know the answer??

Thanks, that's great as my was received September last year - thanks!! I guess they just take that date off the LC and apply it to the I-140?

How come you are applying at VSC? All I-140 petitions should be send to NSC - please check the USCIS website.

Your priority date is the day when your employer filed for Labor Certification. For EB1 cases, it is the day when the I-140 is filed.
