when can you assume that you are stuck in name check?

Hi all,


it is unfortunate that some of us n-400 applicant will be stuck on fbi name checking processes for months ...even worst years, but when can you assume that one is stuck in fbi name ckeck?

would you agree with me that if they couldn't clear the name check within 48 hrs you are stuck in name checking!

You can assume you are stuck in name check if you have spoken to an IO 30 days after your FP and the IO indicates that your name check is still pending.
 
Or you can schedule an INFOPASS to find out. Make sure you specify "FBI name check" when you talk to the IO. Sometimes they got confused and told you it's completed but actually only fingerprint and IBIS checks were completed, NC is still pending.

My rule of thumb is: if you filed more than six months ago and still have not received IL, you can assume that you are stuck in the NC.
 
you can assume you're stuck in name check when you see that you're doing/saying everything to prove (to yourself) that you're not :D
This simultaneously reflects the symptoms of a growing but controllable mental obsession. :D
