I am eligible for naturalization in the end of this coming October. I wonder when I can submit N400. Someone told me that I can submit in August. Is it true? Also, I left my employer 5 months after I got greencard. Will it cause any problem in the process of naturalization?

You can apply once you are eligible, which means up to 90 days before you have accumulated 5 years of continuous residence among other things.

During this 5 year period, I have been traveling outside of the US. But, each time I didn't stay abroad over than 3 weeks. Just wonder if any time of abroad stay would add on this 5 year period and makes it this 5 year period longer.

Just wonder if any time of abroad stay would add on this 5 year period and makes it this 5 year period actually longer.

During the 5 years you must have minimum 30 months physical stay in US. More the better. You should have no problem had you continued in the same field as the first employment.

be careful while calculating 90 days before completion of 5 years to file your N-400. Better to wait till 85 days before 5th anniversary of date mentioned in your GC and apply.

Thank you! I think I should have more than 48 months physical stay in the US during this 5 year period. And, I have been working in the same field all time though I changed my employers 5 months after I got greencard. I think I should have no problem.
