When Can I apply for driving license?

I applied for political asylum and I'm still waiting the interview but my driving license will expire soon. When can I renew it?​
 
I think you driving license date is visit visa end date. If you live in California you can apply for AB 60 driving license. Basically this type of licence is for undocumented people. But if you live another state you can't get driving license until you get EAD.
