when can I apply for citizenship

I looked through the forum and could not find my specific situation.

I married a US citizen in 1/02 and we had a son in 1/03. We lived overseas and visited the US occasionally. I obtained my green card in 5/05 but we lived overseas until we permanently returned to the US in 8/08. We returned to the US every 6 months for periods of about two weeks except for one instance when I was o/s the US for just under 12 months.

Can I apply for US Citizenship in 5/11 (i.e., 3 months before a period of 3 years of living in the US)? Or should I wait until 8/11 and not take credit for the 3 months?

Alternatively, can I apply for US Citizenship now (i..e, take credit for 364 days)?
 
Under 3 year rule, you can use the 90 day credit and apply in 5/11 since you've been living and married to a USC since 1/02.

thanks very much for your response.

After we entered the US in 8/08, I took 3 short international trips for vacation. The total time o/s for these trips was 20 days. I do not think I need to adjust my application for these days since my days of physical presence in the US totals more than 18 months - is that correct?
