Hi,
I got my green card based on asylum. I recevied the card in 2005. It was backdated to 2004, "Resident Since 05/08/04", so when can I apply for a citizen?
If I want to travel out of US? what kind of document I need apply before I leave?
thanks.

Hi jcliu.

You need to add 5 years to your Resident Since that mean 05/08/04 plus 5years it is 05/08/2009 and than subtract 90 days; so you will eligible on February 7, 2009 to have peace in mind you give your self couple days after February 7, 2007 I think that will help.

This is the answer of your second question regarding what kind of document you need apply before you leave US.
- The reentry permit it valid for 2 years and you can stay outside a US for 6 months.
- The refugee Travel Document is valid for 1 year.
Their both document are the same price.
