What's wrong with USCIS? Should be FIFO, not FILO!!

Why is CIS approving September 2002 cases when even Jan 2002 hasn't started in full swing? Can we not do something about it? Maybe, we should contact our local Senators/Congressmen informing them of this gross injustice being done to applicants some of whom have been waiting for over 2 years. When a CIS employee goes to a McDonald's and stands in a queue, doesn't he/she expect to be served on a FIFO basis? Then why are they following FILO for us? Don't know what's going on in that 'dark' department called CIS, but it's not 'right'.

If the USCIS person working on our cases knows the difference between FILO and FIFO, he wouldn't be working for USCIS at all.

It is exactly what the original author referred to. French (I am not)

Shows that is not a good idea to show one's foreign language skills..............

munnabhai...

You are the man! You're all set to lead this country... USCIS should offer you 'Honorary citizenship' :D :D :D

What is this FIFO and FILO?
Looks like highly classified codes.

If I were to lead this country, the first thing I would do is to stop the surveys on this forum.
And secondly, make some of the intellectual and genius members of this forums, the main directors to run USCIS.  :D

O'O! Now you sound like an immigrant!

Munnabhai,

As an immigrant, it's important for you to know that FIFO is 'First In First Out' and FILO is 'First In Last Out'.

Now you can surely be a better immigration ombudsman :)

Vidongre,
When you stood in line at 4 AM in the cold chilly morning to get a US Visa back home, were you told that the most important thing as an immigrant is to know the meaning of this FIFO and FOFI??????

I am pleased to inform you that you are one of the main directors to head USCIS.
Pack you bags and get ready to go to Vermont, not as an Immigration Attorney but....... did U hear "DIRECTOR":D :D :D :D :D

I tell you, you guys are such a bunch of jokers. Keep fighting amongst yourselves, that'll help us all get our 485s approved sooner. :(

Grow up!!

Here's my theory...

CIS officers work in shifts. The more senior officers get the early shift thereby getting the earlier lunch break. They show up at McDonalds and they get screwed by McDonalds' FILO system. The junior officers are able to get back to their desks and approve more recent cases. The older cases which are stuck with the senior officers thereby suffer.

If you don't believe my theory, just go hang out at Micky D's during ur lunch break.

If you do believe in my theory, God help you.

HOW do they divide work , so that everyone has equal chance

if there were 20 records to be cleared out and there are 2 people distributing the work load .

If they were to take 10 each

then record 1 and record 11 will be cleared FIRST . so the 11th guy and so on are lucky.

in a manual system how can they distribute

person A takes 1 then person B takes 2nd record and so on

They will have to pick one record at a time.

FIFO , LIFO experts can you give some ideas . just curious

Idea...

I think cases undergo a preliminary review. Therefore, the Jan cases have undergone a preliminary review and it was determined by someone that they did not merit any action at that point. Thus, we arrive at current Sep and Oct approvals. The logic behind those reviews escapes me, obviously.

Although, based on Rupnet today (with the exception of several receipt dates from 1999, with priority dates in 2002  ), it would look like some of this might be undergoing a change, as far as process goes.

I had another person from my company recently approved with a RD of June 2002 and PD of Jan 2001. I am 4/2002 2/2001.

Also, FIFO cannot be applied in 100% of the cases. Some cases genuinely merit further review and that causes new ones to be picked up and adjudicated.

I certainly hope to get approved soon and discuss this less.
