Hi,

Can anyone plz tell me what the penalty wud be if you have some inconsistencies in ur N400 application regarding i.e. ur physical presence in the US and if the INS officer finds out in the interview?

This is just a guess, but 'inconsistencies' could just be a nice way of saying 'fraud' or 'lying' in the eyes of the USCIS. Even if it were just an oversight, the ultimate penaltly could be denial of citizenship.

I think it depends on the seriousness of the 'oversight'.

If you accidentally left out one trip outside of the USA because you simply forgot, that is different than intentionally leaving out information that would otherwise render you ineligible for citizenship (i.e., you stayed outside of the USA for more time than is allowed to count towards citizenship). Or, if you left out information regarding a felony conviction, that could constitute fraud.

If you have concerns when the time comes for your citizenship interview, I would consult a good attorney for advice.
 
The N-400 form has an instruction pages. Read the part that says about penalties!

Everybody should read the intructions that come with each form before he files it.
