What's the legal way to transfer F1 from F2 status

Dear all,

I am a F2 in LA now, and wish to be a student here.

I am asking the legal ways to transfer my status to F1 student after I got
I-20 form.

you send form I-539 to BCIS requesting a change of status. This is the only way to do it. There are no illegal ways to change F-2 to F-1. WHy don't you ask your international center about the details? That's what they are there for.
