What's NVC got to do with I-485??

Hi,

While reading about when to file the I-485 on the USCIS website, I noticed that it says that the National Visa Center will contact me (who is eligible for an Immigration Visa Number) when one becomes available. Only than can I file a I-485.

The problem with this is two-fold. First, I had moved since filing my I-130. My address has since been updated with USCIS, but do I need to update my addy with NVC also? Second, when I called NVC, the person on the other line told me that NVC deals only with cases that are outside the US, not inside, and referred me back to USCIS. They did have a database for I-797 NOA numbers, but mine wasnt registered - likely because I filed within the US.

So, who is right? USCIS or NVC? Should I file the I-485 whenever my priority date is met by the Visa bulletin? Or am I supposed to wait until I get a notice from NVC?

Any reply would be appreciated
