I was looking for information on what are the steps after 140 is approved. in other words, how much time does it take to have FP notice? How much time does it take to get 485 approved after FP is done? is it possible to get 485 approved without FP. I guess not!!!.
what is the probability to get interview call?.

thanks

No one knows how much time FP takes. It used to be 3 months - now it is almost a year in VSC.

No one knows. People are sitting even after 2 FPs.

is it possible to get 485 approved without FP. I guess not!!!.
Some people have reported the same (no FP and 485 done) - keep fingers crossed.

Around 10% or less get interview. nemessis keeps posting statistics in VSC 485 tracker. Check number of cases transferred to local office, you will get a feel.

Jharkandi, If you are going to be saying "No one knows" as answer to all questions, you might as well not answer questions. It seems you dont know anything, in which case, don't waste the bandwidth by posting messages that only say, "No one knows". My humble opinion this.

dsfgh100,

I think you are a genius. Please contain yourself to Life After Green Card forum, calling names and all sort of foul language. I have left that for you and your clan long time back - I cannot talk filthy like you do. Also, very politely, let me remind you - we are not interested in BS here - nor in racism which you champion(do not show your hate to Indian programmers here - people will bash you)!

Get back and meet your match in those sections which you people use worse than yahoo chat!

JK's use of the expression was right, and it should have been understood in the correct context. obviously it was not.....Maybe God knows.....

JK,

Pls ignore him/her and continue your good work. your advice has always been helpful.

Rgds,

... I got FP notice a month before I-140 approval (almost after 11 months from I-485 ND).

Also, check follwoing thread:
http://boards.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=121533

How much time does it take to get 485 approved after FP is done?

... I know couple of friends who are waiting even after two FP. One of them got I-140 approved back in Nov 2003 and he is still waiting for I-485 (with ND Dec 2002).

You will receive FP notice sometime in future. After getting your FP from ASC and FBI name check, your application will sit on shelf for couple of more months before USCIS will look into it. They may want to see you again and to fulfill their wish you have to go for second FP. Hopefully, after that you will hear something about I-485.

Other two questions are already answered by Jharkhandi.

From where I stand, even knowing that "we don't know" is useful.

Besides, Jharkandi gave some estimates, e.g. for the FP time, and other information...

I would add that the time to get the I-485 processed is more dependent on the ND for the I-485 than when the FP goes out. Although getting FP should be an indication that the I-485 will be processed before the FP expires (this was not the case previously), the service centers often send out "batch" FP notices for a range of dates at the same time so some people could have longer to wait than others.

For my own ND of 10/23/03 (no FP yet), my best guess is that I might get the FP notice in 1-4 months and the I-485 might be processed in 4.5 (optimistic estimate based on VSC continuing to process I-485's much more quickly than has been the case historically) to 13 months or longer (based on the fact that according to the 2003 tracker and according to the official date, they seem to be stuck back around 09/03 these days).

Keep your Great work, Jharkandi!!!

fact is

fact is NOT even GOD knows. Jharkandi was helping out by giving people a factual reply. Try calling INS and getting a response !

If someone doesn't like the reply, they are free not to read posts on this forum

Also, Jharkandi is a very knowledgable member of this forum and always tries to help.

Keep up your good work, and as I see from your previous post, you are not affected at all. Way to go !!

cheers

Let's ignore that person of charm and taste, and get back to the very relevant discussion. Since getting the I140 approval earlier this month (ND was March 1st, 2004) I've been reading the forums trying to figure out some faint resemblance of a pattern, without much success.
The 485 forums are somewhat chaotic compared to this place. Also, it seems that some (many?) of those whose details appear on the 2003 tracker haven't updated us on their progress. So it seems that we all need more data. Now, how can we get it? What can we do to contact forum veterans for updates? Any suggestions?
Apart from that the only insight I have is that when one waits long enough, one is most likely to get a green card :o (good thing that I'm not getting paid for this).

First of all, I fully agree with jharkandi's replies to the first post, as there is no set patern or rule to when you can expect FP, or to expect approvals.

You may get FP notice within 1-3 months, but more likely it will be within 11-15 months of filing. But the main thing to note is what are the I-485 filing dates of current approval. This you can get from approval postings in this forum or from rupnet or other immigration forums. e.g. These days they seem to be adjudicating i-485 cases filed from 02/02 till 11/02. Ofcourse there are huge variations and exceptions with cases as old as 2001 and as new as 04/03 have been approved. But just to make it simpler, lets ignore these exceptions and concentrate on the majority cases.

So going by this if you filed between 02/02 and 11/02, you should expect an approval. Meanwhile, ofcourse your FP should be done and valid at the time. If not, you should expect a FP notice. Now, if your case does not fall between the range I mentiones above, you should NOT lose sleep over FP notice. So here it is not important if and when you got FP. More important is what date cases are being processed currently.

Currently the average time to process I-485 is close to 2 years. Bottomline, have patience, live your life and don't let the GC rule your life, it will happen when it has to happen. If and only if, you find many cases close to your filing dates are being approved and you still have not got any FP notice, should you worry, and not before.
