Whats my visa status with 485 filed and h1b expired???

Hello,
I resigned from my job August end. However I filed for my 485 July 2nd. Its my understanding I am still in good standing as far as being in status goes. However what is my visa status? will it be "AOS - 485 pending" or do I mention something else?

Your status in US is I-485 pending.

To seek or to continue employment after they file their I-485, you need either a work authorization card or EAD by filing application form I-765; or you may simply ask an employer to apply for an H-1 status (if not passed the 6-year limit).

If you do not need to work, you do not need to apply for either and your status is legal, which is called I-485 pending.

If your I-140 applicatin is employer sponsored, you can only change companies after your I-485 has been pending 180 days.

But if your I-140 applicatin is NOT employer sponsored, such as EB1-Extraordinary Ability or NIW petition filed by yourself, you can change job any time with EAD.
