What's enough?

I'm just scaling my odds for an asylum status. The reason I'm asking is simple, I do not want to spend all my money on the airfare and then get a rejective decision regarding the asylum when I could fly somewhere else with the same amount of money. No preaches needed at this point.
All I'm asking is what is basically enough for the immigration judge?
Personal persecution both mental and physical by a group of people? Political persecution by the Government? How do officials usually scale it, what do they consider persecution, financial control over people by the government? Semi socialistic, socialistic values?

That said. I'm just hoping to get honest responses, I'm not really asking for tips and tricks, just simple and honest answers of what can be classified as persecution.

Second, what is an average process time for an asylum case, say with an immigration attorney? 1 month, two months?

This isn't a lottery that you are looking for your odds. A true asylum seeker doensn't think that "if a fare is too expensive". If you really have been persecuted, then dont worry about odds etc, you will win your asylum case. Why do you worry? U.S.A is a fair country and i am 100 percent sure that all asylum cases were heard correctly and approved accordingly.

The most honest answer you will get is: If your asylum claim is REAL and you can prove well founded fear persecution or prove past persecution, you have a good chance of your claim being approved.

I'm sure you don't need one of us to define what grounds the US gov't approves asylum grants.

If we all have learnt anything from this forum, it is that everyone's case is different. There seem to be exceptions to almolst every rule. You have posted very vague questions about this subject before. Without anyone knowing what exactly your situation is, why you are seeking refuge in the US, no one can help you out. No one can read your mind and know if you will be in legal status when you land in the US or will be illegal. No one can know whether your immigration attorney will be a competent one, or a total loser.

An "average process time" again depends on your circumstances. Members of this forum can attest to a process time from 2-3 months to 3-4 years. You can receive an Asylum grant right away, but you can also receive a Recommended Approval and be stuck in FBI name check for years. If you are in legal status, you can rebut a "Notice of Intent to Deny." If you are out of status, you can be referred to a judge. Some cases involve only immigration officer interviews, some involve immigration judges and court appearances with the infamous "clock" as well. Again, depends on your cirucumstances and people handling your case.

No amount of money is worth your life. If you really fear your safety, you would get on the next plane and try to save your life. I'm sure any effort to do so will not be a "waste of money."

I agree with you guys, asylum claim is not similar to an investment where you evalute the return on investment or the break even point.

The answer to the question what's enough is a real story.
