for employment based gc,at citizenship interview should we take the first year tax returns from gc sponsored employer?is there any other proof should be taken with to show that I worked for the first sponsored gc employer at the interview?plz advise me ,thanx

Take two pictures, green card, passport/s, driver's license, social security card. That should be good enough. Tax papers are very rarely required unless there is some doubt about your residency or things like that, not to show that you worked for your sponsoring employer as far as I know.

I concur - Having just had the interview yesterday my personal experience is that if you have a straightforward case (few vacation-type trips abroad, few employers, no issues with Good Moral Character) you do not need to take lots of documentation.

The reason is: if the IO wants to "dig" a little more it would not take you long to make photocopies of whatever is needed (for example letter of employment). The point is: I saw yesterday at least one person running to the neighboring Walgreen's just to take passport pictures and running back into the DO; for this type of minor stuff I think that the USCIS has understanding and allows to bring this type of document within a few minutes or hours (same day) if it is all what is missing to complete/adjudicate the case.

This being said, if you have spare time, you can voluntarily gather some additional documentation if you feel like it.

On second thoughts, I did not take my SS Card along, preferring to have with me the last tax returns as they are government-issued documents showing my SSN. The purpose was not to show evidence of employment but evidence of SSN if needed.
Just my 2 cents.

so much thanx, should I take an employment letter from the first year gc sponsored employer showing my one year work and termination of it signed by that first employer or you say no need for these kind of proves for the officer(besides first year tax returns)?btw,I didn't have much trips outside and I was unemployed a few years after first year of working for my gc sponsored employer, waiting for your advise

You don't need employment letters or related docs unless you left your sponsoring employer really soon after getting your GC. One year was plenty long enough that it won't raise any questions.

boatbod,

What if you are laid off immediately after you get your GC. You can always expect this from consulting companies. How do you handle that?

how do USCIS know where we worked after GC etc? AFter getting a GC I worked for 2.5 years at the sponsoring company before being laid off. Do they even have a policy now that people with EAD are switching jobs?

Thats tricky. The best you can try to do is prove there was a genuine intent to work for the company when you originally sent in the I-485. If your AOS processing took longer than 180 days, you would probably be covered under AC21, assuming of course that you subsequently took a job in a substantially similar field etc.

I got my GC based on employment almost 7 years back. I stayed with my sponsoring employer for about 20 months after getting GC. After that I changed 4 different employers in less than 5 years. (One of them is my own company). Is that going to be an issue?
