What to do with I-94 when leaving US

Hi,

My green card was recently approved but my I-94 was not taken at the interview.

Does anyone know if any problems can arise with the handling of my I-94 when I leave the US for vacation. Should I hand in the form from my passport when leaving or should I remove now as it is no longer needed.

I realize this question may sound obsessive but that's how I am with my immigration stuff.

Thanks,

Robert

Verbal approval at the interview is not official approval.

If you haven't received the green card itself or at least an I-551 stamp in your passport, your approval might not be official yet, and you should hand in your I-94 when you exit the US.

But once the approval is official and you are a permanent resident, the I-94 is irrelevant and you can do whatever you want with it -- shred it, keep it, or flush it down the toilet.
