What to do if overstayed and F4 file opened?

hey guys,
so last december the petition my uncle placed on my mother and family was approved, but we came to the US in 2001, and after talking to a few lawyers found out that adjustment of status cannot be made because we came here after year 2000. Just want to know if things have changed now. The reason we moved here as father was murdered, and mum had nowhere to go with small children but to brother. Thanks guys.

There has been no further renewal or update to section 245(i) and it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY to happen with the Republicans controlling things. I'd be surprised if there was any movement on immigration reform anytime in the foreseeable future with the exception of tougher enforcement and harsher penalties.
