What to do after processing time has elapsed?

Hi,

I married a citizen in September 99, and applied for AOS in October 99. The only receipt I have is a short white cashier\'s receipt with October 16, 1999 as the date.

I have renewed my work permit three times (third being just a week ago).

I received a letter from the INS to submit to them medical, employment, etc. records and finger prints in March 2001. I got finger printed in April 2001 and submitted all the requested documents at that time.

The receipt I received for my EAD renewal stated that I-485 processing time is 30 months. According to the RD for my I-485 next month, 30 months will have elapsed. I wanted to know what recourse I have after the that? I want to be prepared and know my rights.

Please Advise,
Jack

Call INS.

Your work permits should have alien number in them. Also if you used an attorney he/she might have the receipt number of your I485.
Call INS using the following numbers.
tsc 214 381 1423
nsc 402 323 7830
csc 949 831 8427
vsc 802 527 4913

During office hours it takes anywhere from 1hr to 2hrs to get into the system or talk to an IIO. Use the alien number to find about your case (and find your receipt number)
If you know the receipt number (a regular I797 notice from INS, not postal receipts)you can try these numbers after hours and know the status.
Your is a family based case, you might find more help in that forum.
