I am waiting for this f...g green card from 1998.

My labor took 3 years and I-140 1 year and 485 almost year still nothing.......

Last year 485 process was taking around 8 months. Now it is taking morre than year.

Guys. I don't know how long we need to wait.

when all of my collegues and persons who started process 2/3 years later than me got the GCs already.

This really sucks

Pure cr@p

This is bullsh!t. Nothing but bullsh!t.

I have co-workers who've been promoted to new levels in the past 2 years. I stopped my own step up to management because of frigin RFE fears (job description/title staying in similar category).

Missed opportunities and years passing me by, I am playing this silly little game. Sometimes I wish I were back home. Being able to participate fully in life, fully in family, in politics, in my own business, in my own culture.

Instead I am living in limbo and stasis. I don't even know if it's worth it, honest.

Equally frustrated

I am also frustrated like you guys.
The entire greencard process sucks.

The company I work for, applied for my labor certification in
early 1998 thru the traditional labor certification (non RIR) process. INS took 3 1/2 years to approve my labor. Shortly, thereafter, I140 was approved and I filed I485 in dec. 2001 (RD: 12/31/01).

Now, I am in the never ending waiting mode (limbo or whatever you want to call it).

I have been in this country for almost 10 years now. After graduating in chemical engineering from IIT, Bombay, I came here to pursue graduate studies in chemical engineering and completed MS in chemical engineering. There was job shortage in chemical engineering and I was not able to find a suitable
job.
But, there were lot of jobs in computer science, So I pursued graduate studies in computer science from a very reputed univeristy and completed masters degree in computer science as well.
I got a good job in computer science field after my graduate studies and my job was going fine for 6 years until last year when the business climate started becoming very unfavorable.

My company has laid off thousands of people and somehow, one way or the other, I managed to survive until now. But now I am feeling that my days are numbered in the company and the axe is going to fall on me anytime.

So, I am caught up in a layoff situation and my I485 is not moving at all.

The entire greencard process is crap. God know, when INS will relieve us of our miseries.

I have put so much efforts and time in my education and work and it is indeed very frustrating to realize that I am not getting anywhere in my career. In the meantime, I had to pass several opportunities that could have potentially lifted my not so meaningful a career.
Guys, I am also seriously thinking whether it is worth living here.

On weekends go to B&N ...read books ....and WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT WAIT ......

God knows when will it end ...

WHEREZGC, JAY_GC

I'm on your side guys. The whole GC process is POS(atleast employment based). The time they take to process cases, rules & regulations etc., doesn't make any sense. Instead they can say no more green card.

I don't even know if it's worth it, honest......

I'm sure it is not. Think of our life, even after GC. We have to work till we die. I'm sure my life is not meant that way. Save some money, go back to our homes... Enjoy the life...in whatever the way you like...I'm sure our country, society needs us..

Then it makes sense to go through all this Bull Sh...

For me life in US is like 'getting stuck in a tornado or water current'. Hope we won't have to be stuck all our lives.

Goodluck all. God Bless you.

Labor cert started in 07/97...

Heh, heh...I applied for LC when some GC holders were still in college!
