What status on AP/EAD renewal application

Hi,

My H1-B expired in May 2003. I have an H1 extension approval for another 3 years. It is not stamped.
I also have an EAD/AP. I used AP to enter US as it was an emergency and I did not have time to get it stamped.

What is my status for the purpose of renewal application for EAD/AP. Is it H1 or AP ?. I have not used I-9 to switch to EAD.

My wife also has an EAD. She was on F1 before that. She also used her AP. What would be her status ?

I would appreciate your help.

I have conflicting replies here. Does any one know for sure whats the correct "status" is for myself and my wife.
 
Well I am still not sure.

For me is it H1 or AOS pending ?

For my wife I think it is AOS pending.
