What should we do after passing interview process ?

ขอบคุณมากเลยครับ พี่
That you create this forum for Thai DV2009. This forum is very helpful and bring many Thais to know each other.

Hi Khun yernyern,

it seems like both of you and Khun herrmeister0159 are sitting at the computer all day long. Thank you for sharing your experience kub. You have a family to back you up over there, the initial settlement wouldn't be so tough. I hope you can find a good job very soon. As you've already passed the interview process, may I ask you a few questions? For all translated document, can I do it by myself or I need to use the translator service? Can you suggest where? Also, in dv case, do we also need to $100 visa application fee like other visa types before going to the US embassy or just pay $775 individually inside?

Sorry, I can't answer your topic question but giving you another question. I hope there will be someone answering your topic soon. Also, I am glad to meet lots of Thai here. Maybe we should create another topic like Thai DV community in another post, so we can meet more people.

ขอบคุณครับ

The total fee for DV is $775. No other application fee will be required

Woh!!!

Glad to have all Thais gather in this forum. Actually i was brand new here too, and just co-incident have a long chat with Herrmeister.

I settle this forum actually want to ask information after getting DV visa in the passport. Like, where should i go after enter US and change my status into Resident. Suprisingly this forum is being interested by Thai DV 2009 winner. However, if anybody can help me with my topic queries please also let's me know na.

However, Congrat !! to all DV winner 2009... My interview experience didn't have much interesting. Not many questions are ask. I also graduate in BC degree but i was asked about education experience, especially during HS. Because i spend time of high school in Australia...

From my recent experience na ka ( DV2008 winner) i would suggest all Thais to have Thai certificate ( all of them) translate into English.... but you don't need stamp from Foreign Government Dept. I would rather have document ready, because it would waste your time if additional document requiring after interview as its also delay your process. I had my Thai document translate including for my daughter over 10 pages

I am also worried about my Sponsoring document at the beginning, but i decide to sponsor myself with all my bank statement and my parent bank statement. I was lucky, that i also have Bank of America account open while i was working there. So i also submit my US bank statement. They wouldn't care much of your properties. It need to be cash on any investment.

I plan to go to US around October with my daughter. My mother in law is a US resident and live in Florida. So we plan to move there and work there. I am now wishing to have this forum open for Thai. so we can keep in touch all newly winner and pass winner.. 55555......

Should i change my forum topic mai nia ???? :D

Yernyern, the moment you get to the airport, the officer will ask for the sealed envelop given to you at the embassy. This will serve as the processing of your official greencard, hence your permanent resident status. The Immigration Officer will then stamp the passports and provide you with an A# (permanent resident identification #). At the point you are on your own. The "greencard" will arrive in the mail at a later date to the address you provided in your DS application. Additionally you will receive a SSN if you applied for it on your DS application.

I hope that helps your question. Do not worry... you have completed the hard part the other steps are just formality

First, nice to meet all Thais ka.

I guess our number should be current in the same month, and thanks for your comment. Although AOS is more expensive and take longer time than CP, I want to do it. The problem is that I don't know the exact date of interview now. I want to buy ticket, like 3-4 months in advance. Buying an air ticket too close to travel date costs about or more than $2,000. Also, I'm not sure if I can leave during an interview date since this is my last year and I want to finish my dissertation by May. Taking a month off would affect to my research. I'm also working at my university as a GA. My advisor would not want me to be absent during semester.

Anyone here doing AOS?

My case is 6,xxx, think that should be around Nov, Dec. I think HYP should come to Thailand to do CP istead if you can leave there becuz you probably current in Nov and not waste your time.

Yeah !!! Finally i have someone clarify my point !!!
Medpharm, Thank you so much for infor..

kritvichu, Yeah... might be a good idea to create new forum to attract more Thai winner. I will let you know when i have new forum for Thai na ka. Yeap, you' re right...me and herrmeister0159 both are office workers. For me i spend most of my time in front of computer.

Your question for 775$ fee payment, you can either pay by cash or credit card at US embassy during your interview ( Cheque is not acceptable). Once you submit all document, they will direct you to pay the fee at cashier. If you have US bank account, you can also pay by Debit card or credit card. You do not have to pay of $100 at post office prior interview like other non-immigrant visa ka.

I had all my document translate since last year but my interview is just this month. It still work though. Its depend on how long will be for your translation. You also need to check all spelling that it's translate correctly. (It would be again waste your time if you find out during interview). When i get my English translation, there are few mistake points such as my daughter hospital change from BNH to be somewhere in Samutprakarn hospital.... name and detail you have to check carefully na ka.

I heard they have a form of translation if you want to do by your own. For me, i am too lazy and busy to do it myself, plus i know someone who can translate for me with good price... There is a form of translation in website such as House Registratio, ID, Birth Certificate... etc.. ( i don't know which one but normally provided in many Embassy websites)

Got to go for lunch la..., will be back ka..

PS: Is any possible to have you all in Nickname.... cause it's easier for me to refer to... my nickname is ' Neung' ka....

I'm quite agree with k'kritvichu. You're here all the time :P

I just created a new thread for Thai DV winners here ka, link

By the way,

Can anyone give me full meaning for CP and AOS ??

Thanks ka...

สวัสดีครับ พี่ Neung
CP = Consular Processing, for someone who live out side US or live in US but prefer to do the interview in their country along a second letter.
AOS = Adjust of Status suitable for someone live in US with the low case no. and do not want to leave the US and interview in US with many steps before getting the green card.
