What other Docs required to visit India after my GC stamping

Dear Friends,
    I am planning to visit India first time after I came to US in 1995. I have my GC stamping done on Aug 13, 2001. I do not have card with me. I do not know when I will receive it. I have a ticket booked in Singapore Airlines this month end. I have few questions lingering in my mind. Please clear my doubts.

   1. Will there be any question/problem, while entering US with just GC stamping in passport?
   2. What are the other docs. required to carry, if I do not have a card with me?
   3. How safe is it now to travel, after this unfortunate tragedy in WTC?
   
   If you know any other precaution/advice, please let me know.

These are my concerns too.

Also want to know how many days in your case between the time
you received the approval letter and the time you did passport stamping ?

Am I correct that I can\'t travel with approval letter but I can
travel with a stamped passport ?

You are right. You do not need to be concerned as far as you have stamped passports that is my take on this. Have a wonderful vacation !

Hi oldapex,
    I received the courtesy copy on Aug 04th (directly from INS) and original approval letter ( from my lawyer) on Aug 08th. I stamped it on Aug13th.
   You need to have stamping on your passport. Your approval letter will not be sufficient.

I don\'t think you need any other documents to travel after stamping.
That\'s what INS Officer told me at the time of stamping. I can travel and valid for work.

You are going to be my hero now. I saw your earlier postings regarding mismatch in DOB. I have a similar problem. The place of birth in my BC does not match the POB in my other documents. I have already filed for I-140 and for I-485 I am going to present the original BC. I also need to get the error rectified in my passport. Please help me. I would appreciate if you could write in detail how your attrny fought your case and how long did it take. Please see your private messages also. The mental tension that I am going thru is too much Man! Appreciate your response

I travelled to India after my case was approved but BEFORE stamping my passport. I had a valid H1 and thats what I used. I also carried my approval notice but it wasn\'t required.

Hi Ramesh Doraiswamy ,

My problem is with DOB, not place of birth. I believe that correcting
the place of birth is easier than correcting DOB in passport. Though I
started the legal process to correct the DOB in passport, I could not
complete it. Since the our problems are similar, but the same, also it
is a very lengthy message I may have to write again, I left my contact
details with GC_Milegakya and asked him to contact me anytime. I will be
doing the same with you. He called me yesterday, we had discussed and
analyzed his problem at length for nearly 40 or 45 minutes. Also I asked
him to call me anytime, even at midnight, to get any other clarification
or suggestion regarding. I know the pain you people are going through
now.

and tomorrow. I will not be available on this coming Saturday and
Sunday.
